Hey everyone! Sam Laughlin here. So I was supposed to blog last night about the events that happened yesterday. Except now my team and I know that it was God’s divine plan that I forgot to do it yesterday and had to wait until now (you’ll know why soon too, hehe).
Yesterday was an emotional/amazing day for many of us. My group which consists of Jordan Burt, Joe Grispo, and Sarah Toomey started our day off by going on a prayer walk through the market, which was led by two missionaries here. Not only did God stir all of our hearts, but he allowed us to also touch the hearts of others in the market, which was an overwhelming experience to be able to lay our hands on people and pray (I’ll have you know there was hardly a dry eye). The second part of the day I and a few other scattered team members worked on making a lesson plan for the school that we taught at today. Which brings me to today… I won’t go into too much detail, as someone else will be blogging more about today’s events, but the team felt that I should share this one amazing moment of today personally.
This afternoon we were doing house visits, going into people’s homes and asking how we could pray for them. At our last home a mom had mentioned that her 12 year old, precious daughter, had not yet accepted Jesus, but was questioning it. Her name is Evelyn, and God had put on my heart and the hearts of my team members that I should pray for her. Well after talking to her for a little about why I love Jesus and what He has done in my life, and after my teammate Jordan had done the same, she said she would be willing to pray after me to accept Jesus into her life! And somehow by the incredible power of God, He used me to bring Evelyn to Christ today!
I have never experienced such a raw presence of God, and as my teammates were praising God and crying around me I was overwhelmed by Him and what he has done and is doing. What a crazy and spectacular God to use a kid to bring another kid to himself! For all of you prayer warriors out there: THEY ARE WORKING! Thank you and keep it up, we feel them all the way in Guatemala. Also, mom and dad, your letters have been truly God sent, and exactly what I needed to hear each day. Thank you, love you guys!
