with two orphans on the black sand beach in Monterrico
The first damsel in distress was at the Mother Anna Vitiello Home. The Mother Anna Vitiello Home is a home for children with HIV. Three super heroes – Batman, Spiderman and the Hulk, were able to use their super hero skills to save Abagail. A playhouse and a nearby window offered the super heroes ways to save the frightened damsel in distress. All the damsel in distress needed to do was stand on a pad where she was safe while the three brave young men worked together to try to save her.
The second damsel in distress sat down on a seat about three rows from us in Guatemala’s airport. She had a dark bruise under each eye. As she sat there alone, she looked very alone. Even though the boarding call was scheduled to happen within the hour, Jenny asked if she could do an ATL and . . . it wasn’t more than a few minutes later that the young lady walked past where we were sitting. When asked where she was from, she said that she was from Grand Rapids, that she was a teacher and that she had spent the last couple of weeks in Guatemala. Jenny spent the time until it was time for her boarding to talk with her and to pray with her. Jenny received a text from her a day or so later thanking Jenny for the time that she spent with her and with a renewed desire to reconnect with a church community.
From being a silent foil for three energetic little boys for their entertainment to being an encouraging voice for a disquieted young lady, going on a short term trip is a unique opportunity to be uniquely blessed while blessing others.
